Tampa Bay Water and its consultants have been studying potential routes for the new South Hillsborough Pipeline that will address the water needs in southern Hillsborough County. Currently, project teams for both pipeline segments A and B have identified multiple potential routes and are analyzing each route and scoring them based on established criteria. This summer, Tampa Bay Water will be seeking public input on the shortlisted routes.
Pipeline selection is based on several criteria. Information from a 2019 Hillsborough County pipeline public opinion survey was incorporated into the non-cost evaluation criteria and weighting factors for the pipeline. Through that survey, the public noted that public inconvenience, environmental impacts, costs and safety were top concerns.
