Tampa Bay Water’s board of directors is once again funding the Pinellas, Pasco and Hillsborough county Florida-Friendly Landscaping (FFL) program. The board voted at its regular meeting to provide a total of $404,500 to the conservation program, which focuses on increasing water use efficiency within the tri-county region.
Tampa Bay Water has supported FFL (formerly Florida Yards and Neighborhoods) for more than a decade. The program teaches homeowners, businesses and schools how to improve water efficiency in the landscape, conserve water, reduce stormwater runoff and reduce nutrients flowing into waterways. FFL complements local government programs to foster a sense of environmental stewardship among citizens by increasing awareness and understanding of Florida’s natural systems and resources, and how they relate to our ecology, economy and quality of life.
