Approved Budget Funds Region’s Drinking Water Infrastructure
| | Return

At its May meeting, Tampa Bay Water’s board of directors approved the utility’s fiscal year 2024 budget with a $0.02 increase in the wholesale water rate to just under $2.60 per 1,000 gallons. For a typical residential household, which uses about 4,200 gallons of water a month, the rate increase means an extra $0.07 in their monthly water bill from the wholesale rate.

The fiscal year 2024 operating budget totals $199.6 million and anticipates providing an additional 200,000 gallons of water per day to its member governments to meet growing demand as population increases. Tampa Bay Water’s 10-year capital improvement program totaling $1.5 billion funds the utility’s capital needs through 2033, which include new water supply and water quality improvement projects.
