Next Scheduled Siren Test:
Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 9 a.m.
Tampa Bay Water conducts monthly testing of its reservoir siren system at the C.W. Bill Young Regional Reservoir in south Hillsborough County. The purpose of the sirens is to notify those closest to the facility of an emergency that requires immediate evacuation.
The siren notification system will be tested on a regular basis. Monthly audible testing will be conducted on the first Wednesday of each month (unless that is a holiday) at approximately 9 a.m. The test will include three to five short blasts lasting 10-20 seconds each.
In the unlikely event of an emergency, the sirens will sound in a continuous blast. Hillsborough County Emergency Management will immediately contact residents using text messages, emails and telephone calls. And emergency responders will be dispatched to direct residents to safe evacuation routes.
To receive emergency notifications, residents should sign-up and register their contact information by visiting HCFLGov.net/HCFLAlert.
2024 Siren Test Schedule:
Safety has always been the top priority for this facility. The site’s geology was thoroughly investigated before the facility was designed and permitted. Additionally, monitoring equipment installed in and around the embankment and in the facility’s drainage layer provides precise information to assure safe operation and maintenance of the reservoir. And, the facility is inspected daily, weekly, monthly and annually.
