High Service Pump Station Variable Frequency Drives

The High Service Pump Station is located at the Tampa Bay Water Regional Facilities Site in Hillsborough County. Finished surface water from the plant is blended with finished water from the Tampa Bay Seawater Desalination Plant and conveyed to the regional system through the High Service Pump Station. The station pumps an average of 85 million gallons of water per day (mgd) to the regional system.

Overview

This project will replace four and refurbish two medium voltage variable frequency drives at the High Service Pump Station. Variable frequency drives are used to adjust pump motor speeds, flow and efficiency.

Benefits

The project will improve pump station reliability and decrease facility downtime.

Cost

Total cost for design and construction is approximately $9.1 million.

Time Frame

Construction is anticipated to begin in fall 2027 and be completed by late 2029.
