Tampa Bay Water Hosts Public Meeting on the South Hillsborough Wellfield

BALM, Fla. (July 22, 2025) – Tampa Bay Water, the region’s wholesale drinking water utility, invites residents to attend a public meeting on the proposed South Hillsborough Wellfield.

Date: Tuesday, August 5, 2025

Time: 6 p.m. – Open House; 6:30 p.m. – Presentation

Place: SouthShore Regional Library, 15816 Beth Shields Way, Ruskin, FL 33573

Tampa Bay Water staff will provide information on the proposed South Hillsborough Wellfield, which could supply 6-12 million gallons per day of high-quality drinking water to southern Hillsborough County. After the presentation, Tampa Bay Water will answer questions and take public comments.

This project was shortlisted in Tampa Bay Water’s 2018 and 2023 Long-term Master Water Plans and was deemed feasible in 2021 through a detailed study that analyzed technical, environmental and economic aspects of the project. If approved and permitted, construction of the facility could begin as early as 2028 and the facility could begin supplying water to the region as soon as 2030.
