Regional Utility Awarded Triple Crown for Seventh Consecutive Year

CLEARWATER, Fla. (July 16, 2024) – For the seventh consecutive year, the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded Tampa Bay Water the Triple Crown. The Triple Crown recognizes the regional utility’s efforts to make financial information available and accessible to the Tampa Bay region.

“Participating in the GFOA program helps Tampa Bay Water ensure transparent communications with stakeholders regarding our financial documents,” said Christina Sackett, chief financial officer for Tampa Bay Water. “It’s important that our members and citizens know how the shared public investment provides the region with clean, safe and reliable drinking water.”

Tampa Bay Water was awarded the Triple Crown for receiving all three GFOA awards for fiscal year 2022:

  • The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Award recognizes government agencies for going beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare comprehensive annual financial reports that demonstrate the spirit of transparency and full disclosure.
  • The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award recognizes government agencies for preparing high-quality budget documents that reflect both the guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA's best practices on budgeting.
  • The Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award recognizes government agencies for producing reports specifically designed for the public to access and understand without needing a background in public finance.
