Tampa Bay Water updated its demand forecast and anticipates delivering an average of 197.7 million gallons per day (mgd) of water to our member governments in 2024. This is slightly higher than the budgeted 197.5 mgd for Fiscal Year 2023.
The median demand for the year 2040 has increased by about 10 mgd since the previous year’s update, reflecting increasing population and demand growth. With higher population predicted for our region, especially in Tampa and south Hillsborough and Pasco counties, the demand for drinking water continues to grow.
Tampa Bay Water is incorporating these new demand projections into its 2024 budget preparation process and its next Master Water Plan update, which will be completed by the end of next year.
