Utility Supports Florida Friendly Landscaping with 2023 Funding

Tampa Bay Water is deeply committed to water conservation activities and partners with other county and state agencies who share in this commitment. At its August meeting, Tampa Bay Water’s board approved $549,030 in 2023 funding for the Florida Friendly Landscaping Program™ (FFL) in Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties.

FFL is a program of the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Services (UF IFAS) and its former namesake, Florida Friendly Yards. FFL promotes wise irrigation practices and proper Florida landscape designs to reduce water use and prevent pollution. In 2021, the program helped save an estimated 62 million gallons of water for the tri-county area through proper irrigation and drought-friendly landscaping.
