The Tampa Bay Water Wise regional rebate program offers 20 separate rebates to homeowners, property owners, contractors and builders who take proactive steps to reduce water use. The program’s goal is to save up to 3.8 million gallons of water per day by 2030 and cost-effectively defer the need for equivalent new water supplies through improved water use efficiency.
For fiscal year 2024, Tampa Bay Water Wise saved 375,889 gallons of water per day (gpd), achieving 99.5% of its target high goal of 377,337 gpd. Water savings in 2024 alone represent just over half of the program’s total savings, showing promise that the program can achieve its 2030 savings goal. Since its inception in March 2020 through Sept. 30, 2024, the program is saving 689,623 gallons per day—that’s nearly 252 million gallons in a year.
Not only have the water savings increased, but the program’s cost effectiveness has also improved, coming in at $0.78 per thousand gallons compared with $0.83 per thousand gallons saved in 2023. When you consider that new water supplies could cost $4-$12 per thousand gallons, Tampa Bay Water Wise is a cost-effective way to defer the need for new infrastructure.

In addition to the water savings, Tampa Bay Water Wise has also recycled about 1,000 old toilets.
“This has been our biggest year yet in water savings for the Tampa Bay Water Wise program, thanks to increased marketing activities,” said Amelia Brown, demand management program manager for Tampa Bay Water. “As more residents and businesses learn about how they can save money while saving water, we believe the program will continue to grow.”
At the October meeting, Tampa Bay Water’s board of directors extended the contract for Electric & Gas Industries Association Inc. for $690,459 to administer the rebates and manage the program marketing through 2025.
