Tampa Bay Water Hosts Florida Water and Climate Alliance Workshop

Tampa Bay Water is hosting the Florida Water and Climate Alliance (FloridaWCA) workshop on Wednesday, Nov. 5.

FloridaWCA is a stakeholder-scientist partnership committed to increasing the relevance of climate science data and tools to support decision-making in water source management, planning and supply operations in Florida. FloridaWCA members include the University of Florida Water Institute, Florida State University, three water management districts, and six major public water supply utilities.

The goal of this workshop is to bring the FloridaWCA network together to enhance the usability of climate change and variability data and tools in the planning and operations of Florida’s public water supply utilities. Participants will share relevant research and programs related to FloridaWCA interests as well as determine future ways of working together and strategic efforts for FloridaWCA.

Speakers for the workshop will be:

  • Libby Carnahan, Florida Sea Grant, UF/IFAS Extension
  • Dr. Wendy Graham, Carl S. Swisher Chair in Water Resources and Director of the University of Florida Water Institute
  • Dr. Rebecca Zarger, Associate Professor of Anthropology at the University of South Florida
  • Barbara Powell, Water Resource Manager, Environmental Planning & Community Resilience Division, Broward County Environmental Protection and Growth Management Department
