Each year, Tampa Bay Water hosts Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day, encouraging boys and girls to explore their interests and apply what they learn in school to the real world. The day also provides an opportunity for children to learn about the diversity of careers in water.
This year’s program was held at the agency’s Cypress Creek complex, which contains the operations center, laboratory and construction administration offices. Twenty-five children participated, including daughters and sons of Tampa Bay Water staff, as well as kids from the Children’s Home of Tampa. They spent the day with fun activities such as:
Tampa Bay Water staff also guided the kids on tours of the laboratory, pump room and operations console.
Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day is a great opportunity to introduce a world of career possibilities to students,” said Michelle Biddle, Chief Communications Officer at Tampa Bay Water. “Many people don’t realize the depth of careers available in the utility industry and we are excited to show off what we do.”
The Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day program emphasizes the importance of education, and empowers youth to reach their potential. According to the Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Foundation, the theme of this day is Building Partnerships to Educate and Empower.
Tampa Bay Water recognizes its important role in ensuring high quality of life for the Tampa Bay community, and works each day to ensure our region has a reliable supply of clean, safe water now and for future generations. We can do that by supporting the growth of our young community members to ensure a bright future for our region.
