Tampa Bay Water sponsored a Newspaper In Education (NIE) publication in partnership with the Tampa Bay Times. The educational publication, “25 Years of Innovative Water Supply Solutions,” aims to educate area middle school students and the community at large about their drinking water sources, water quality, conservation and source water protection. Tampa Bay Water has sponsored several water-related NIE publications in the past. This year’s publication also compares and contrasts the region’s environment before and after Tampa Bay Water developed alternative water supplies.
“Water conservation and source water protection are critical, and it starts with educating our future leaders,” said Brandon Moore, public communications manager for Tampa Bay Water. “By putting this information into the hands of area middle schoolers, we hope to instill wise water practices for future generations.”
More than 100,000 copies were provided to all middle schools in Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties Sept. 21-29; 100,000 copies appeared in the Tampa Bay Times Sunday edition Oct. 1, and 72,000 copies were in the TBT publication Oct. 4. Tampa Bay Water also has 5,000 copies to distribute as part of our education and outreach program.
