Morris Bridge Wellfield Nominated for Local Support Grant

Florida State Rep. Traci Koster recently nominated Tampa Bay Water’s Morris Bridge Wellfield rehabilitation program to receive a local support grant from the Florida Legislature. The grant program allows members of the Legislature to request nonrecurring funding for local governments, educational entities, or privately-operated programs to support local initiatives.

Morris Bridge Wellfield is located within the Lower Hillsborough Wilderness Preserve and contains 20 production wells with a total capacity of 33.75 million gallons per day (mgd). The project will install new pumps, motors, piping, electrical and arc flash components on 15 wells currently in service, providing a more reliable system, and demolish five wells currently out of service.

The project was one of several approved by the Legislature and awaiting the Governor’s approval. Many thanks to Rep. Koster, who represents House District 64, for nominating this worthy project and understanding the importance of our mission to provide safe, reliable drinking water to the region. We appreciate her leadership to ensure we’re able to meet these goals.
