Interim Solution Will Bring More Water to Southern Hillsborough County
Board, Future Water, | | Return

The Brandon Booster Station will bring an additional 5-7 million gallons of water per day (mgd) to southern Hillsborough County once complete in 2024. The project is now preparing for construction, with the site being cleared and graded, and temporary driveway and fencing being installed. In the meantime, Tampa Bay Water has devised an emergency plan to bring more water to the county in spring and summer 2022.

At Tampa Bay Water’s November meeting, the board approved contracts for a temporary pumping system for the Brandon Booster Station site that will boost pressure in the Brandon Transmission Main and deliver an additional 5 mgd of existing permitted supply to the county months before the permanent booster station is complete. This is a similar concept to Hillsborough County’s own booster station on its distribution side, where it is installing a temporary pump station while its permanent pump station is under construction.
