Tampa Bay Water and Hillsborough County have been negotiating a joint project agreement for Hillsborough County Pipeline Segment B which, when complete, will deliver water from the Lithia Water Treatment Plant to a new point of connection in the Balm area. This pipeline is the long-term solution to bring additional water supplies to southern Hillsborough County to meet the growing demand. The project received Southwest Florida Water Management District co-funding, and the joint project agreement outlines Tampa Bay Water’s and Hillsborough County’s share of the $66 million in capital costs not funded by the District.
Tampa Bay Water’s board approved a revised agreement at its October board meeting that included a change Hillsborough County had requested to align with the County’s Minority Business Program policy. Hillsborough County plans to present this version of the joint project agreement to its Board of County Commissioners October 20.
