Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative provides electric service to 16 Tampa Bay Water sites in Pasco County. Annually the cooperative allocates a pro rata share of its margins to its member-owners on the amount billed for electric service during the year. For 2020 the Cooperative refunded Tampa Bay Water $94,287.33 and presented the check to Ron Oakley, vice chairman of the board, in December.
Over the past five years Tampa Bay Water has received $498,043.43 in refunds from the cooperative. Tampa Bay Water allocates these refunds toward the utility’s energy savings projects and is currently using them for the C.W. Bill Young Regional Reservoir’s solar energy system.
