Document signing creating Tampa Bay Water

Building on 25 Years of Innovation
| | Return

Tampa Bay Water celebrates its silver jubilee anniversary June 10. It was 25 years ago on this date that legislators and representatives of our member governments signed documents creating our utility, and the Southwest Florida Water Management District pledged $183 million for the development of alternative water supply projects.

Since our creation in 1998, Tampa Bay Water has built more than $2 billion in water supply infrastructure, including alternative water supplies to reduce the region’s reliance on groundwater and enable environmental recovery in northern Tampa Bay. We’re proud that our agency serves as a model of regional cooperation, and we’re looking forward to building on these past 25 years of innovation for years to come by continuing to provide clean, safe, high quality and sustainable water to the region.
