A Fond Farewell to Commissioner Susan Latvala
Board, | | Return

Tampa Bay Water said a fond farewell to Pinellas County Commission Susan Latvala at its October board meeting. Commissioner Latvala has served on the Tampa Bay Water board since January 2001.

During her 13 years on the board, Commissioner Latvala has worked tirelessly to implement regional solutions that protect our region’s environment and economy. During her tenure on the board, Tampa Bay Water:

  • Commissioned and expanded the first regional surface water treatment plant
  • Remediated and began operating the nation’s first large-scale seawater desalination plant
  • Reduced groundwater pumping to historically low levels
  • And continued planning new supplies for the future of our region

To thank her for her service to the community, Tampa Bay Water’s board presented Commissioner Latvala with a framed Clyde Butcher print of the Hillsborough River to serve as a reminder of the precious resource she worked so hard to protect.
