Spreading across 4,800 acres in central Pasco County, the Cypress Creek Wellfield has been in operation since 1976 and currently has 13 production wells in service. It is one of 10 wellfields in the region operated under Tampa Bay Water’s Consolidated Water Use Permit. Water withdrawn from the Cypress Creek Wellfield is treated at Tampa Bay Water’s Cypress Creek Water Treatment Plant before blending with other supplies and delivery to the regional system.
The project will replace 13 pumps and motors and improve or replace the well houses to meet current electrical code.
This project will maintain the Cypress Creek Wellfield’s existing level of service and increase its efficiency and reliability while reducing operation and maintenance costs.
Total cost for design and construction is approximately $20.5 million.
Construction is anticipated to begin in fall 2027 and be completed by spring 2030.
Cypress Creek Preserve Trail will be closed for use throughout construction because equipment will be brought in through the trail.
