TAMPA, Fla. (Nov. 20, 2019) – Whether it’s becoming a drop of water in the water cycle to take the journey through the natural environment and community water systems, or learning about water treatment, sources of water, and the environment, children can experience the wonders of water at the newly refreshed Water’s Journey climber and interactive water treatment exhibit at the Glazer Children’s Museum.

This exhibit, officially opened on Tues., Nov. 19, 2019, was created through a partnership between Tampa Bay Water, the Tampa Bay region’s wholesale drinking water supplier, and the Glazer Children’s Museum.

The organizations partnered to create an experience for families to learn about water, the role water plays in their lives, and how to conserve and protect this essential resource. In addition to a new look, the exhibit now features an interactive station with buttons and levers to learn the water treatment process and how water travels from sources to their taps.

“We believe this partnership is a natural fit because we share a common goal to educate and inspire the children and families in our region on water supplies and the environment,” said Hillsborough County Commissioner Sandra Murman. Commissioner Murman serves on the board of directors of both organizations.

Children receive a well-rounded experience to put them in touch with their community and local environment. The water exhibits still feature the Ocean Sandbox, where kids dive into an augmented reality ocean environment, and educational kiosks for children to hear how local students conserve and protect water.

Dozens of curious children joined the Museum and Tampa Bay Water to celebrate the opening of this new water exhibit with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting.

“Through this exhibit, we are able to tell the story of our region’s water in a unique and playful way,” said Sarah Cole, president and chief executive officer of the Glazer Children’s Museum. “We are so excited to partner with Tampa Bay Water to teach kids about water through the power of play.”
