Tampa Bay Water currently has 90 capital improvements projects (CIP) in various stages of design and construction and anticipates adding even more projects for fiscal years 2022-2031, increasing the CIP budget to approximately $1 billion. Most of the larger and costly capital projects are complex in nature, requiring keen oversight and careful planning.
In order to manage these projects effectively, Tampa Bay Water will need to augment staff with an integrated program manager consultant (IPMC). Staff introduced this concept to the board at the Dec. 14, 2020, meeting. IPMCs are commonly used to execute large capital programs throughout the country, and they help enhance resources of agencies such as ours during high peaks of work to keep projects on track and on time.
