Regional water supplies in the Tampa Bay region have benefitted greatly from the 11 inches of rainfall that recently fell across the area. Tampa Bay Water is taking full advantage of surface water sources, while they are flowing, and has recently filled the C.W. Bill Young Regional Reservoir to 15 billion gallons. Higher than normal rainfall has also enabled Tampa Bay Water to take its most expensive supply, desalination, offline in June and July.
Tampa Bay Water regional demand has averaged approximately 173.2 mgd since the beginning of the fiscal year, which is about 1.4 million gallons per day higher than the same period last year. Production from the Consolidated Wellfield is an average of 81.4 mgd for the past 12 months, well below the permitted level of 90 mgd.
Above average temperatures and rainfall are expected to continue through October.
