A new pipeline will deliver up to 34 million gallons of water per day (mgd) of regional system water to western Pasco County and New Port Richey utilities.
Groundwater pumped from the Starkey and North Pasco wellfields is currently the sole source of drinking water for some residents in West Pasco served by the city of New Port Richey or Pasco County utilities. The West Pasco Infrastructure project will help reduce groundwater pumping by connecting these isolated wellfields to Tampa Bay Water’s regional system, which in turn allows the wellfields to rest and recover.
Public input plays a vital part in every Tampa Bay Water project. Input received at an open house meeting on Nov. 9, 2004 was used to help select the pipeline route.

In addition, the Tampa Bay Water board of directors take public input prior to every Board of Directors meeting.
The cost for this project is currently estimated at $22.5 million. It has been recommended for co-funding at approximately 50 percent by the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD).
