Overview
The West Pasco Infrastructure project includes constructing a pipeline that will connect western Pasco County and New Port Richey water utilities to Tampa Bay Water's regional water supply system. Historically, these utilities have relied solely on groundwater from the nearby isolated Starkey and North Pasco wellfields. Connecting these utilities to the regional system will provide a reliable, sustainable supply to these governments as well as reduce groundwater pumping at these Pasco wellfields. This will allow environmental recovery to occur, as seen at other Pasco County wellfields where groundwater cutbacks have already occurred.
The Tampa Bay Water board of directors approved the West Pasco Infrastructure project in June 2004. The pipeline is currently under construction and scheduled to be flushed, tested and placed into service in Fall 2007.
