It takes six to 10 years to plan, permit, design and build drinking water facilities. Planning for the future ensures the region's supply can meet demand.
Current water supplies can adequately serve Tampa Bay Water's members near term, but new water must be developed by 2012 to continue meeting the public's water needs. In October of 2006, the Tampa Bay Water board chose Downstream Enhancements Phases A/B to meet the region's needs in the 2012 timeframe, and long-term planning efforts ensure adequate supplies to our members beyond 2012.
