Tampa Bay Water's Carrollwood Collection Main project involves the installation of a small diameter pipeline leading from each of the three former Florida Governmental Utilities Authority (FGUA) wells located in the Carrollwood neighborhood to the closest point of connection to Tampa Bay Water's regional water system, on the north side of Gunn Highway, near Nixon Road. The pipeline will be installed in public right-of-way.
Tampa Bay Water's construction contractors will work with Hillsborough County representatives, local residents, and business owners to ensure public safety and to minimize traffic disruptions. Construction activities will take place between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 Monday through Friday.
Tampa Bay Water does not anticipate water service interruption to any water customers in the Carrollwood neighborhood as a result of pipeline construction.
As depicted on the attached map, the total pipeline length to be installed in Phase
II is approximately 3 miles. The 10- to 12-inch pipeline will be installed
in the public right-of-way along Floyd Road, Hudson Lane and Gunn Highway, and will
connect to the Tampa Bay Water system on Gunn Highway.
The total estimated cost for the Carrollwood Wells Collection Main Project is $5.5 million. This cost includes the purchase of the wells, as well as engineering, design, permitting, and construction of the pipeline. The cost for Phase II of the project is approximately $2 million. All project costs are the responsibility of Tampa Bay Water, which includes costs as part of the regional uniform water rate.
