Transmission Main/Water Collection System

Some 13 miles of pipeline collects water from the Brandon wells. The collection pipeline ranges from 8 to 36 inches in diameter and ties into the Brandon/ South-Central Connection to convey water to either Hillsborough County's Lithia Water Treatment Plant or Tampa Bay Water's regional facilities site.

Route Selection

The pipeline route for the Brandon Urban Dispersed Wells project was selected in July 1999 after careful study, evaluation of alternative routes and public input.

Criteria considered during the evaluation of alternatives included:

  • Safety

  • Wetland impact

  • Wildlife impact

  • Traffic impacts

  • Property issues

  • Long-range area planning

  • Conflicts with existing utilities

  • Geotechnical (soils and rock) considerations
