To better serve Hillsborough County, the Brandon Urban Dispersed Wells and transmission main are being converted to finished water as part of the South-Central Hillsborough Improvements Project. The Brandon wells are scheduled to be offline until early 2009 while these improvements are being made.

Project Overview

The Brandon Urban Dispersed Wells provide an average of 6 million gallons of drinking water per day, primarily to Hillsborough County to serve its fast-growing south-central service area. This water supply began providing water in January 2002.

The project involved redeveloping a previous groundwater supply in the Brandon area of Hillsborough County and included a transmission main that conveyed raw water to Hillsborough County's Lithia Water Treatment Plant.

The Brandon Urban Dispersed Wells project is one of the nine original Master Water Plan projects.
