Tampa Bay Water established its Energy Management Program in 2010, and since that time, has been working its way up the energy pyramid. As recommended by the Association of Energy Engineers, our pyramid starts with a solid foundation of conservation, followed by energy efficiency.
Efforts to-date include:
Conducting energy audits
Replacing old pumps and motors with more efficient models
- Participating in TECO’s commercial demand response program
- Modifying Cypress Creek Pump Station operations to decrease energy use
As we continue climbing the pyramid, we’ll be right-sizing the Eldridge-Wilde Wellfield, rehabilitating pumps and motors at pump stations and wellfield, continuing energy audits and evaluating renewable energy opportunities, such as hydropower and solar power.
