What Work Requires a Permit?

  • Plumbing permit is required for connection to county or city water, showing backflow preventer. This must be a licensed plumber, licensed irrigation contractor or the homeowner.

  • For well pumps, electrical permits are required only if the pump is not already existing. This must be licensed electrical contractor or the homeowner.

  • Landscape material (hedge/trees) is required as part of the site plan or habitat (tree) permit (new construction only).

What are the Required Documents to Obtain the Permit?

How to Obtain a Permit?

  • The permit can be obtained by coming to the department in person

  • Or by faxing in the application and follow-up with the actual application mailed in within 7 days
