CLEARWATER, Fla. (May 5, 2021) – Tampa Bay Water was awarded the 2019 Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) Award by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). The GFOA represents public finance officials throughout the United States and Canada and recognizes governments’ efforts to make information available and accessible to the public.

“We’re thrilled to again receive this honor,” said Christina Sackett, Tampa Bay Water’s chief financial officer. “As a governmental utility, it’s important that our financial documents and budget processes are as transparent as possible.”

With this award, Tampa Bay Water also received a special triple crown medallion for receiving all three GFOA awards — the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, Distinguished Budget Presentation Award and Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award — for fiscal year 2019. This marks the fourth consecutive year Tampa Bay Water received the triple crown.

The PAFR Award recognizes agencies that produce reports specifically designed for the public to access and understand without needing a background in public finance.

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting recognizes government agencies that go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare comprehensive annual financial reports that demonstrate the spirit of transparency and full disclosure.

The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award recognizes agencies that prepare high-quality budget documents that reflect both the guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA's best practices on budgeting.
