Funding Approved for Brandon Booster Station Construction

Construction on the Brandon Booster Station will soon begin as early procurement of equipment and cooperative funding have both recently been approved. Once operational, the Brandon Booster Station will pressurize and send an additional 5-7 million gallons of water per day to Hillsborough County’s Lithia Water Treatment Plant.

At its August meeting, Tampa Bay Water’s board of directors approved a $3.9 million guaranteed maximum price contract with PCL Construction, Inc. to accelerate purchase of long-lead items like valves, horizontal split-case pumps and motors, and variable frequency drives. The board also approved a second guaranteed maximum price contract with PCL to make improvements to the Lithia point of connection to accommodate the additional supply.

At its July meeting, the Southwest Florida Water Management District approve $3.3 million in co-funding for the project.
